Alresford Pigs get local residents on the move.
Residents of Alresford have probably grown accustomed to seeing a few
Mobility scooters round the shops, and might even have seen some heading out along the pavements and roads into the suburbs!?
They are a real boon to some older residents in the area, who typically use a 4mph mobility scooter to enable them to reach the shops, either because they cannot walk the distance, or have problems with getting up the hills. Several of these scooters have been kindly donated to the Alresford Pigs Association over the years, and after a service and refurbishment the Pigs have loaned them out for use by residents who cannot afford to buy a new scooter, and would not have been able to find or arrange to buy a second hand unit.
Last year the Pigs recycled four such scooters, with more are in the pipeline this spring & summer. Should you see such a scooter tearing down the pavement towards you, beware, it could be one of the results of your donations to the Pigs!
